UMT (University of Montana: Native American Graves Protection & Repatriation Act)

UMT is dedicated to supporting the mission of NAGPRA within the University of Montana, focusing on the respectful handling and repatriation of Native American cultural items. Through education and outreach, UMACF works to raise awareness and foster understanding of this vital initiative among students and the broader university community.

Objective:
To create a logo for UMACF that could be used on merchandise distributed to students and at fairs, raising awareness about NAGPRA within the University of Montana. The design needed to reflect professionalism, align with the university’s identity, and incorporate cultural significance.

What I Delivered

  1. Logo Design:
    Created a logo that embodies the core values of UMACF while incorporating the Bitterroot Flower, a symbol of Montana’s heritage, and maintaining a professional aesthetic.

  2. University Color Palette:
    Integrated the University of Montana’s official colors to ensure the logo aligns seamlessly with the institution’s identity.

  3. Merchandise Concepts:
    Designed versatile logo applications for a variety of items, including T-shirts, tote bags, mugs, and promotional materials, ensuring adaptability across formats.

  4. Concept Development:
    Developed four logo concepts with a focus on:

    • Cultural Symbolism: The Bitterroot Flower.

    • Professionalism: A polished, timeless design.

    • University Identity: Alignment with the university’s color palette.
